Condo Hotels Playa del Carmen were featured in the biggest nationwide US daily newspaper on January 22, USA Today (circ. 1,900,116), in a piece on beach restoration, entitled “Playa del Carmen Gets a Beach Lift.” This newspaper article and the project itself are very exciting news for all of us. Beach restoration means that Playa del Carmen is waking up for an even busier, livelier year!

The government has started the long-awaited project in mid-January, and now Condo Hotels have even bigger and whiter beaches. The beach widening has increased the value of our real estate, and it will give our vacationers a fresh, beautiful, restored coastline, just in time for the opening of the Beach Club and El Taj Oceanfront.

For the past two weeks we were witnessing large bulldozers bringing in fresh sand from the bottom of the ocean and widening the beach right in front of our eyes. To cover 2.6 miles (4.2 km) of Playa del Carmen’s beaches, about 2.6 billion cubic feet (800 million cubic meters) of sand was required. This way, a new shoreline was being created. The project is environmentally conscious, as the coastline is not being altered, but restored to its natural state that has been eroded over the past 20 years due to inclement weather patterns.

Condo Hotels has worked closely with the government in convincing government officials to move along with the project, and we are very glad it is happening right in time for our grand opening!

On January 22nd, The New York Times (circulation 1,400,302) featured the opening of El Taj Oceanfront! The piece describes the area, prices, condos, and gives all the details about Jack Perlman and Condo Hotels Playa del Carmen.

Nick Kaye, the journalist, says: “The project sits directly on the beach, and holds 41 one-to-three-bedroom units, including penthouses, that owners will be able to rent as hotel rooms while they are away.” Nick also mentions the beautiful décor, two swimming pools, the new restaurant, the dive shop, spa and fitness center.

The piece appears in “Breaking Ground” section, on the back page of “Weekend Arts,” which is one of the most visible pages in the newspaper.
